Recovered some vital (and fashionable) assets, despite avian attacks.
4.10 miles - 1:10:13 hours - 17:06 min/mile
On schedule for the Virtual Race 10K, I ran four miles this morning at the park, using the first of two training missions for the Virtual Race. I'll run the second one next week for my five-mile run. And then either go back to the Season 1 story missions or maybe use one of Jeff Galloway's training runs for the six-mile run.
I remembered to bring my watch today, so I could do 1:1 minute run/walk intervals. Slept in a bit late, and didn't get to the park until around 8:20, but the weather was perfect for running—cloudy and breezy, around 60 F. I wore my jacket for the first half mile or so, but took it off after that. I knew I wouldn't need it once I got warmed up, and might as well have just left it in the truck. I dropped it off at the truck after the first mile.
I decided to try to kick up my pace a bit this week, since my ankle is doing fine and had no soreness after last week's run. Managed to average just over 17 minute miles. Still slow, but better than last week. My splits were 16:19, 17:23, 16:50, and 17:32. Hm, slowed down quite a bit on the last mile. But still, overall about a minute/mile faster than last week. We'll see how I can do next week.
I am still struggling to get my midweek runs done. Again, I skipped Monday in favor of working on projects: this week, pulling the swamp cooler out of the window and putting it away. It only took an hour and I could easily have done a quick two miles around the house as well. But I didn't.
Wednesday, I got to the gym early enough to do 30 minutes on the treadmill before my personal training appointment, but this time, my trainer was ready to start 15 minutes early so I only got 15 minutes on the treadmill again. I had considered staying after my session to run on the treadmill some more, but I was so tired I didn't. So. I did get lots of exercise this week, but not running. Will try again next week.
